About Jason

Hello Chess Enthusiasts!

​Jason Garfield is a National Master and the leading chess coach in the Santa Barbara area since 2011. In addition to his work in local grade schools, he also is the founder of the Santa Barbara Chess Club and has served as an instructor through Santa Barbara Community College's Center for Lifelong Learning. He is also a three time chess champion of San Luis Obispo County.

He prides himself on teaching chess in a fun and lighthearted environment while also instilling in students a lifelong passion for the game.
